Local Austin Photographers
The photographer i chose was Korey Howell who does glamor photography, which goes from head shots, group pictures, lifestyle candid, and etc. Korey Howell got her start in the photography business 25 years ago with a mall-based glamour photography franchise company that she grew to 20 franchisees nationwide. After working in marketing, graphic design and networking, she launched Korey Howell Photography in 2006 in a 100 square-foot studio. I chose Korey because of how simple yet elegant her photos are taken.
I like this picture because of how they can show off their brand and how hard they have worked to get to that point. Another reason is because of the nice pink which draws your attention to the group. I cant really tell what rule of photography this photo follows.
I like this picture because of the lighting and the contrast of the colors. Another reason is the horse in the background because it looks very majestic. This follows rule of thirds because of how off center both subjects are.
I like this photo because of the background with the different colors popping out at you. Another reason is how simple this picture looks but it still looks beautiful. This follows simplicity because theres nothing going on in the photo.
I like this picture because of the different colors of the woman showing. Another is of the different options with the different angles and distances. I dont think this follows any rules of photography.
I like this the picture because of the colors of text popping out in front of the brown. Another is the contrast of the womans dress and all the other colors around her. This follows simplicity because theres nothing going on in the photo.

Magazines part 2
1.) Image Based
Is one of the most common approach to a magazine cover, there shouldn't be many people in it and there shouldn't much activity going on. Most of the time there is a celebrity on the cover to gather more sellers. These magazine covers are typically used in almost all fashion, gossip and mens magazines. The cover has to correspond with the style of the publication which means if your shooting a food magazine use food as your subject.
2.) Illustration Based
Illustration covers are drawn or generated on the computer. Usually illustration covers are used to add a different effect on the magazine to do something out of the normal. Majority of the magazine companies that use this cover don't need newsstand sales.
3.) Type Based
This approach isn't typically used but are more used than illustrated covers. The the text on the cover used most of the space and can have a powerful message or symbolism to stand out to the readers. At times they can come across as straight to the point or a funny sarcastic meaning.
4.) Concept Based
Concept covers are a variety of all the other three approaches. It is not used as much but can have a powerful symbol or message to grab the readers. It should be easily understood by the readers at least that is what you should be aiming for. This approach is mostly used in business magazines and news magazines.
My Favorite Cover
"When shooting Solange Knowles for The FADER, we wanted to reference her timeless songwriting, and emphasize her classic presence in the image. This cover was shot with an Bx 10 View Camera for a simple, timeless vibe, bringing only SO plates of film to capture the perfect shot (compared to a standard 2,000-shot digital sitting). We took many conservative, close up shots of Solange, but still wanted that final, bold image. We chose yellow as the backdrop, because it paired well with the natural lighting from the windows and the contrast of colors in her outfit. Solange stepped onto the apple box herself, and the shot we chose was the very last plate of film."
Description:
In this cover she has a serious face and looks like she is thinking of something else. She looks to be in her own world and look off into the distance. The background is a yellow and the blue perfectly contrasts with it so it can make her stand out. Theres nothing crazy going on in the photo so its easier to focus on her sitting looking elegant and peaceful.

Portrait assignment
For my portrait assignment i will shoot my friends in this class but i dont know exactly who yet. I will shoot around the courtyard and a flowery area because i feel like those areas will look very beautiful. To make my shoot successful is to follow most of the rules of photography and the ones ill most likely use are rule of thirds, simplicity, balance, and try to get framing and background. :)))))
Casual Portrait
- I like this photo because it looks funny to me
- I like this photo because she looks like katy perry if thats not already katy perry
